Heart Transplant Surgery
As the name suggests, heart transplant surgery is a surgery to remove the diseased heart from a person and replace it with a healthy heart which might have been received from an Organ donor, where the donor should be declared brain dead.
This is generally done for persons with end-stage heart failure, where the heart completely weakens and fails to pump blood normally.

Individuals who suffer from severe heart failure from varying causes and do not respond to medicine or surgery are considered for heart transplant.
How is the heart waiting list structured?
Donor hearts are given to those with the most urgent need. If two people match criteria for an available donor heart, the heart goes to the patient who is the sickest and who has waited the longest.
What difference would a heart transplant make to my life?
After the heart transplant surgery is performed, the patient would observe improvements in the symptoms of the heart disease. Not only that, they will be able to perform all the physical activities better than the one without a transplant. However, regular medicines along with a close supervision are of utmost importance.
How bad my scars will be?
The scar of a heart transplant surgery will be prominent initially, but it will fade away to become a thin line with the course of time.

It is suggested by the doctors that a heart transplant patient should take a minimum of a month or two off from work.
