Open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) is a surgery to fix severely broken bones. Although the success rate of ORIF is high, recovery depends mainly on the age, health condition of the patient, post-surgery rehabilitation as well as severity and location of the fracture. ORIF recovery can last 3 to 12 months. You’ll need physical or occupational therapy, pain medication, and lots of rest.
