Respiratory disease is a disorder of the lungs and airways that impact human respiration. Disease in respiratory functioning may affect structures and organs that support breathing, including the pharynx, the nasal cavities, the trachea, the larynx, the bronchioles, the lungs tissue, and the muscles around the chest cage.
Three main reasons cause the respiratory diseases-
• Exposure to the polluted environment that contains toxic clouds of dust, organisms, or gases.
• Smoking and exposure to passive smoking.
• Allergic phenomena
Respiratory disorders range from self-limiting, mild to life-threatening like pulmonary embolism, bacterial pneumonia, lung cancer, and acute asthma. The chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is an umbrella term for a respiratory illness that causes breathlessness or cough up sputum in the morning. CRDs are not curable, however, the treatment that dilates air passages and improves breathing problems.
Allergy tests are used to identify the cause of different breathing problems. It also determines what’s triggering breathing problems. Chronic respiratory disease related to breathlessness resolves within a few weeks with medical treatment. Some of the medications include antibiotics that work on bacterial infection. Your doctor might recommend an inhaler and other drugs to open narrowed passages to the lungs.
Doctor perform one or more lung function tests such as bronchial provocation test, exercise tolerance test, spirometry, arterial blood gas test, chest X-rays, and CT scans.
