It was founded in 1971 by the renowned economist Late Shri Manu Subedar who himself was suffering from an impaired vision. Lotus Eye Hospital is a Non-Profit Charitable Hospital which has been accredited by ISO certification. The Hospital has set up a clear goal for eradicating Visual Impairments and taken initiatives to reach each strata of the society with quality eye care at affordable cost.

Lotus Eye Hospital, Juhu is manned by a highly qualified and dedicated team of Ophthalmologists, Optometrists and trained Medical and Para-Medical staff. The Hospital is equipped with state of the art medical equipments of reputed brands and carries out numerous eye care treatments and procedures. The Hospital remains linked to high ethical standards and is presently treating over a lac patients in O.P.D. and performing about 5,000 surgeries annually.

The Hospital has well equipped speciality clinics like Cataract, Glaucoma, Cornea, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Retina, Oculoplasty etc which are manned by specialist Doctors. It also has a LASIK Centre which is equipped with ALCON’s WaveLight Ex500 Excimer Laser which provides the world’s fastest and safest technology for an advanced LASIK procedure.

The Hospital strives to promote and provide superior patient care for the treatment and prevention of blindness diseases through its regular community outreach programmes which help the people belonging to the weaker sections who are living in relatively distant or less accessible locations like Karjat, Wada, Dahanu and Shahapur etc. in the interiors of Maharashtra. Lotus Eye Hospital, Juhu thus strives to carry its compassionate services to the doorstep of tribal areas.

The Hospital has set up its Pediatric ward in association with Orbis International for screening and treating children with eye disorders in the slum areas of Mumbai.

We are also attached with the Lotus College of Optometry which was established in the year 2000, by Late Shree Naval P. Baliwalla, as Mumbai’s first four year degree program in Optometry. The prime objective of the college is to develop human resources for rendering eye care services to grow Ophthalmic and Optometric professions. Since its establishment, the College has achieved many milestones to its credit. Besides human resource development, the College is also actively involved in research activities, community eye health and offering specialized services in Optometry.
